  • Abstract
The major benefit in using coded modulation for fading channels is achieved if each code symbol of a codeword (or coded sequence) suffers statistical fading (preferably independent fading). However, in many mobile communication applications, a low vehicle speed (or a small Doppler spread) is very common and ideal interleaving is hard to achieve. Transmitter diversity using intentional frequency offset between antennas can generate the necessary time-varying fading and maintain the effectiveness of the coded signaling scheme. The paper presents a performance analysis of pilot symbol assisted demodulation with transmitter diversity for trellis coded modulations
