DoD SATCOM teleport system use concept: 2006-2025

Emerging DoD SATCOM requirements are shifting from single frequency systems toward an integrated telecommunications system. Teleports are a key component of the integrated system. The teleport requirements, functionality, and hardware provided in the article is the result of DISA´s SATCOM Architecture Study in support of the Congressionally requested DoD SATCOM Master Plan and SATCOM Program Review. The Services´ requirements estimates are based on the assumption that fixed site, non-deployed users will be transitioned from SATCOM to fiber in the Defense Information System Network (DISN). SATCOM´s primary role will be to provide the telecommunications link to deployed users.
