Abstract :
This paper evaluates the potential benefits of applying an object-based approach to hardware/software codesign. We analyse the support provided for the principles of object orientation by the PARSE codesign specification notation and the VHDL hardware synthesis notation. An algorithm which translates from PARSE to VHDL is then presented and then demonstrated through a mobile phone hand-set case study
