Abstract
Performance optimisation of aerodynamic shapes plays a critical role in aeronautics and the automation of design tasks is an active research field. An adaptation of genetic algorithms to the above problem and its parallel implementation are discussed. We have empirically compared the performance of our parallel version with the sequential one. Experimental findings on a design problem are presented and analysed. The results have shown that the parallel approach has allowed us to find innovative solutions in a much lower convergence time
