  • Abstract
There are a diversity of research interests within the University of York´s human-computer interaction research group, and one of the areas is broadly that of the use of computers by people with disabilities. This paper gives a brief overview of some of the work currently under way within the group, as well as some broader lessons about performing this kind of work in an academic environment. The work includes: making computers accessible to blind people through multi-modal interfaces; automatic sign language recognition for deaf people; a tool for dyslexic writers; and using computers to make mathematics accessible to blind students
