  • Abstract
    We discuss advances in quantum dots for nanophotonics and quantum information applications. After a historical review of research on quantum dots and their laser applications (i.e., quantum dot lasers), successful demonstration of temperature-stable quantum dot lasers and ultra-low threshold lasers with photonic crystal nanocavity are demonstrated. Moreover, recent progress in quantum dot information devices such as single photon emitters and entanglement photon pair generators are shown: We discuss 200k operation of single photon emitters using GaN quantum dots and single photon emitters at 1.5 μm.
