Abstract
This paper presents a new iterative algorithm for image registration based on minimization. The method is based on the fact that the whole process of image registration can be viewed as an empirically convergent sequence of minimizations. Preliminary results on simple images shows that the method has promise, though the situation could get complicated with the addition of more structures or noise. These issues are currently being investigated
