Abstract
Video-on-demand (VOD) has been touted by some as a “killer“ application that will draw fibre much closer to the home. It has been also been demeaned by others as a market dog, too expensive for even the most optimistic of revenue projections to support. The article predicts that if the service provider concentrates on “Popcorn” applications associated with VOD and employs HyperPONs and Hyper Real Time for fiber-to-the-home, VOD is a dog standing on a pile of gold!
