Abstract
A study was conducted on the adsorption kinetics of diuron from aqueous solutions onto activated carbon fiber. The results showed that the formation of hydrogen bonds between diuron and water, and temperature variations may possibly affect the adsorption process. Furthermore, adsorption of diuron onto activated carbon fiber was affected remarkably by solution pH and the maximum adsorption amount was achieved at an optimum pH of 3.0. Different kinetic models were applied to the experimental results obtained. The pseudo-second-order rate equation fitted the adsorption kinetics data better than the pseudo-first-order rate equation.
