Abstract :
This paper presents and analyzes the use of a Brushless doubly fed induction Generator (BDFIG) in an autonomous wind conversion system for a water pumping application. Because of no brushes and slip rings, the BDFIG is suitable for autonomous systems, which often work in hard conditions. The BDFIG mathematical model is reviewed and a steady state analysis of the electrical torques and the power flow on both stators is presented. The power flow control is accomplished through the auxiliary stator changing the frequency and voltage of its excitation. The system is controlled by means of a torque loop following the turbine optimal torque. In addition, a steady state analysis of the whole system operation points and the power flow for different wind speed is accomplished, supported by simulation results.
