Abstract
For the wireless sensor networks, we have already proposed novel high-resolution time-of-flight (ToF) measurement principle on the basis of a vernier effect, and also confirmed its basic effectiveness experimentally. In this report, we have newly developed advanced prototype wireless sensor nodes in which proposed ToF measurement principle is installed. They provide many features, such as not only on-board high-resolution ToF measurement but also online selection between controller and mirror (which denote both operating modes assigned to respective target nodes), environmental monitoring function, and so on. Experimental results show that designed ToF measurement resolution is accomplished and ranging accuracy derived from measured ToF is precise enough for nodes localization.
