Abstract
The energy and resource efficiency and effectiveness (EREE) in manufacturing is a crucial factor as they are becoming an important part of the total cost associated with the product and its manufacturing value chain. Therefore, it is essential and much needed to understand the EREE issues on the manufacturing process/machine, shop-floor, factory/enterprise, and even the manufacturing supply chains. The conception and systematic investigation on EREE-based LCM aim to address the issue in a scientific manner. Furthermore, this research attempts to explore the approach for a manufacturing system to reduce energy consumption, optimal resource utilization, waste minimization in production, and the consequent carbon footprint. Finally, the example of implementation and applications of the framework is presented to demonstrate the appropriate tool which can be used based on this conception.
