Abstract
In this paper, on the base of comparing with switched reluctance motor (SRM), a new doubly salient permanent-magnet machine (DSPM) and its structure and running principle were introduced. Because of the high nonlinearities of the DSPM motor, the finite element method (FEM) was adopted to analyze the static characteristics under different armature currents and different thickness of permanent-magnet (PM). The relationship between torque ripple and PM width was pointed out, and the structure parameters under the condition of the smallest torque ripple were computed. Some advices were given for DSPM motor design.
