Abstract :
The harmonious development of ecological economy is the core matter of society sustainable development and the ultimate way of human development. Land use patterns as the most significant ties of interaction between human and nature reflect the situation of eco-environmental protection and economic development. In view of this, the paper attempted to make a study on the situation of eco-environmental protection and economic development by eco-economic harmony in Tongshan, Jiangsu Province. Firstly, the ecological service value from 1998 to 2007 in Tongshan County are calculated by using Costanza formula and land use/land cover changes data, and the dynamic changes of eco-economic harmony from 1998 to 2007 in Tongshan were got by combining the GDP and land use /cover changes. Then the paper analyzed the eco-economic harmony of Tongshan County and its different townships from 1998 to 2007, and explained changes based on actual situation of Tongshan County. Finally, it was found that the eco-economic harmony from 1998 to 2007 "first ascended and then descended" in a U-shape. According to the eco-economic harmony in 1998, 2002 and 2007, the eco-economic harmony of northeast of Tongshan County that is rich in natural resources is inferior to flat-bottomed land in the northwest, southeast.
