  • Abstract
The present paper describes the modeling of 3-level Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFC) with their control systems for studying the steady-state and transient behavior of electrical networks equipped with FACTS devices. The control features of these devices and their interaction with the network are presented and analyzed through detailed time-domain simulations carried out on different model power systems (multi-machine systems including the IEEE-14 bus test system).
