Abstract :
Two phases of remote sensing image data of Dandong city taken respectively in 1989 and 2001 were interpreted through ERDAS software and the change of landscape pattern was analyzed with three categories of indices from the landscape pattern and landscape levels by means of using FRAGSTATS software. The results showed that the construction land was dominant and expanding tendency was obvious with glebe, paddy field and wood land. The landscape diversity became higher from 1989 to 2001, and its spatial configuration tended to fragmentation and irregularity. The driving force of landscape change came from both natural factors and human factors including rapid development of economy, increasing population and comparative advantage.
