Abstract
The design process of a return signal simulator (RSS) for radar altimeters is discussed. After analysis of the waveform of the ocean return signal and comparison of existing RSS design schemes, a novel design scheme is proposed. The new RSS design has the advantages of not only low cost and being compact in dimension, but also the ability of adjusting the slope of the leading edge and the peak value of the waveform
