Abstract
Adaptive frequency selective surface(FSS) is a valuable technique for increasing the bandwidth of airborne radome. It can satisfy the rigorous bandwidth requirement of synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Adaptive FSS with cross slot units has been investigated in this paper. Cross slot FSS acts like bandpass filter. It can be used in antenna radomes. Lumped-element devices are loaded on the periodic units. Resonant frequency of the FSS depending on the lumped-element´ impedance could shift in a specified frequency band. The bandwidth of the adaptive FSS with reflection loss below -20 dB can get to 10 GHz.
