Abstract :
A novel high efficiency drive strategy for the synchronous reluctance motors (Syn. RMs) considering the stator iron loss using a neural network (NN) is presented in this paper. The optimal current ratio between torque current and exciting current is analytically derived to drive Syn. RM at maximum efficiency. Since the NN utilized in this paper is trained off-line to map the optimal current ratio, high efficiency Syn. RM drive can be achieved with accurate speed control performance even for transient states. The validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in this paper with experimental results
