Abstract :
A transmission line model for predicting crosstalk involving three-core twisted cable is developed. The three-core twisted cable is modeled as a cascade of uniform sections with abrupt interchange of core wire positions at the end of each uniform section. Crosstalk among circuit configurations employing a three-core twisted cable were investigated by using this transmission line model in this paper. It is found that the twists generally provide an attenuation of about 50 dB than a three-core cable without twists does for crosstalk when the driving sources on three-core twisted cables and terminal impedances are three phase symmetric. When the driving sources are asymmetric, much less attenuation for crosstalk is provided by three-core twisted cables. Similar techniques can be used to model four-core twisted cables and other multi-core twisted cables for crosstalk prediction.
