Abstract :
The results are summarized of a six-month study of three candidate low-cost Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System (GPS/INS) guided stand-off weapons. Among the technical issues of interest were an assessment of the performance of several GPS translator configurations and the potential benefits of differential GPS. The principal focus was placed on the weapon accuracy which would be achieved by each of these three configurations. Costs of the various concepts were not evaluated. The scope of this study consisted of a top-level design and evaluation of the candidate configurations. Error models and a closed-loop covariance simulation (which includes a navigation filter and a controller) were developed. An accuracy comparison of the three configurations was performed,
