Abstract
Recently many researchers have paid significant attention to the design of hierarchical multiprocessors due to the fact that such systems need very inexpensive interconnection networks compared to those needed for non-hierarchical systems. The performance of a hierarchical system degrades as the access rate for non-local memory modules increases. If some hot spots are present in the system, the performance degradation becomes significant. This paper presents a new hierarchical multiprocessor. The performance degradation in the hot spots and due to non-local memory modules is less severe in our hierarchical multiprocessor than in the other existing hierarchical multiprocessors
