Abstract :
The issue of software size estimation, a key consideration in estimating software costs is discussed. Software sizing models are divided into five categories: analogy models, regression models, expert judgement models, models based on function points, and parametric models. For each category, a brief description is given, one or more examples are presented, and the capabilities and limitations of models of techniques in that category are delineated
