Abstract :
The finite wordlength effects in delta-operator formulated systems are analyzed and conditions for absence of nonzero equilibria in zero-input systems are provided. Also discussed are the options for their elimination. Considered are fixed, floating point as well as block floating point arithmetic with different quantization formats. It is shown that the problem is most likely to occur in fixed point systems. Although the problem is solvable within the fixed point arithmetic, block-floating point is a good alternative
