  • Abstract
The author describes the ENERGY 2000 Swiss national PV R&D programme which has: a policy target of 50 MWp (by the year 2000); an existing capacity of grid connected plants of 4.4 MWp (Dec. 1993), 5.2 MWp (Dec. 1994 estimate); a strong commitment to integration in buildings; rate based subsidies in certain towns (Burgdorf, Lyss and Geneva); and a small public budget for PV. He details how the contribution of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy is: 3 million sfr/a for the promotion programme and P&D projects; and 3 million sfr/a for R&D projects. The total funding in the field of PV in Switzerland was about sfr 23 million in 1993 for R&D and P&D, which comprised 15 million from public and about 8 million from private funds
