Abstract
A knowledge-based reasoning procedure of an expert system for ship identification is presented. The problem of identification in an approximate reasoning system described by likelihood implication is considered. The identification method and its performance index are also presented. This method makes use of fuzzy relation systems, recursive identification algorithms and clustering techniques. The theoretical and experimental results indicate a high reliability for ship identification
