Abstract
This paper describes a pragmatic approach to the issue of Year 2000 preparedness with respect to problems in embedded systems and devices, particularly those used for process control in pulp and paper plants. The nature of the Year 2000 problem is described, including discussion of the business and technical issues. A standard methodology for dealing with the problem is presented with a focus on compliance determinations from product vendors and through testing.
