Abstract :
Combination of RFID technology with broadband wireless access technology can be promising to generate potential RIDD applications. In this paper, a novel RFID information system was proposed and analyzed, which is based on WLAN and WiMAX. A part of WLAN APs therein are in wireless mesh configuration to improve the robustness and deployment flexibility. The wireless heterogeneous network of WLAN and WiMAX is as the delivery path for RFID data, contributing to the wireless infrastructure of RFID information system. Aiming at a specific mega-event, the RFID test system is designed and some application scenarios are given. This paper focuses on RFID data acquisition platform and middleware during the first phase of the project, and proposes the solutions to reader coordination and reader management, etc.
