  • Abstract
Reliability non-coherence phenomenon may exist in bulk power systems in some cases due to the effects of some factors on the system reliability. Reliability non-coherence component (RNC) has negative impacts on system economy and reliability, so recognizing the RNCs of power systems can effectively improve the system reliability and capital benefit. This paper proposes reliability indices decomposition (RID) method to recognize the RNCs of bulk power systems. Based on RID method, the reliability of systems with any component out of service can be obtained while computing the reliability of the original system. This method is applied in RBTS and IEEE RTS systems, through comparing RID method with direct method, it is verified that RID method can recognize the RNCs of bulk power systems accurately and save much computation time.
