  • Abstract
Employing a new massively parallel digital architecture, the GOPSTMarithmetic processor is capable of continuously processing 20 MHz analog data digitized to 8 bits accuracy. Enhancing its flexibility is the ability to configure arithmetic modules in parallel and/or cascade to produce FIR filters that operate at GOPS (109operations/sec) speeds. For example, the same hardware components can yield a 72-tap, 50 MHz, 7.2 GOPS FIR filter, or a 312-tap, 17 MHz, 10.4 GOPS FIR filter. A major application for these systems is as a digital replacement for analog processors now used for signal enhancement or encription of satellite TV transmission and reception.
