  • Abstract
A systematic procedure has been developed for optimizing the parameters in a model of a physical system so that the input-output behavior of the model matches that of the system. The first step in this process is a ranking of these parameters with respect to their influence on the outputs of interest. Subsequently, nonlinear optimization methods are used to modify the parameters. A simple example illustrates the procedure
