  • Abstract
    To improve the uplink bandwidth utility, an efficient DBA (EM-DBA) with multi-threshold reporting is presented. The excessive bandwidth in each polling-grant circle is divided into private one only for certain ONU and the public one for all ONUs to calculate the appropriate multi-threshold values which could reduce the unused timeslots greatly. Accumulating the left excessive bandwidth for the latter circles would increase the total available bandwidth in one circle for strengthening the ability to resist the variance of traffic. The simulation result shows that the throughput, end-to-end delay, bandwidth waste are improved compared with the reference algorithms.
