Abstract
In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), location-based routing protocols can offer significant performance improvement over topology-based routing protocols by using location information to make forwarding decisions. Location service provides the location information of mobile destinations to source nodes so that location-based routing can be applied. Secure location service in MANETs is challenging because of the absence of any central intelligence in the network. In this paper, we propose a Secure Distributed Location Service (SDLS) scheme for MANETs, in which each node registers its location along a row and the location query is along a column in the grid network, a node with self-signed certificate is verified by using public key system during location service activity to achieve a high level of security. The simulation results shows that the proposed location service scheme SDLS has good performance and security.
