Abstract :
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a way of designing, developing, deploying, and managing enterprise systems where business needs and technical solutions are closely aligned. Increased return on investment (ROI) is a prime motivating factor for many organizations to migrate their existing systems to ones based on services. This paper details the experience of migrating a traditional Web-based application to a SOA-based system. The paper focuses on the business and technical issues that motivated the migration, but it also describes the advantages of the new service-oriented system in terms of ROI.
