  • Abstract
Summary form only given. FIX is an automated knowledge acquisition editor for diagnosis and repair problems. FIX permits expert technicians, who are not computer programmers, to work alone in specifying fault isolation and repair plans for specific electronic systems. FIX features a graphical direct manipulation interface and access to a version of the performance system for verification of the knowledge base. Consistency checking during knowledge acquisition prevents the expert from adding a dependency to the network that would form a cycle or is redundant. FIX is written in Common Lisp and uses the knowledge framework and graphics primitives of KEE 3.05 (Intellicorp). It runs on a Symbolics workstation
