Abstract
A new logarithmic block-matching algorithm for motion estimation is proposed. The algorithm exploits the motion correlation of spatially neighboring blocks to reduce the possibility of an inappropriate choice in the search´s first stage and thus alleviate the local minimum phenomenon. Compared to existing fast block-matching algorithms, this method achieves significant improvements in both estimation accuracy and performance reliability while maintaining comparable computational complexity and regularity
