  • Abstract
In this paper, the author used DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) method to analyze the operational efficiency of China´s four major commercial banks and ten joint-equity commercial banks. The result shows that in the past few years, the operational efficiency of all the four major commercial banks has decreased and in need of further improvement, while the operational efficiency of the other ten joint-equity commercial banks has experienced significant increase. Then the multiple regression analysis method was applied to analyze the factors that influence the efficiency of China´s commercial banks. Based on the result of the empirical analysis, the author provided practical recommendations to the future development of China´s commercial banks, including reasonable scale control, the acquire of modern management techniques and the prudence consideration of going public. I hope this paper can help the Chinese commercial banks to improve efficiency.
