Having a thorough review of the ancient countries that have a time-honored history and civilization, you will be surprised to find that only Chinese civilization witnesses consecutive development of 5000 years and bears the best continuity and broadest and deepest influence. Endowed with the nourishment by such bountiful earth, the furniture culture of Ming & Qing dynasties also saw a prosperous development and nurtured unique aesthetic traditions and spice. This paper will discourse on the cultural phenomena contained in the furnishings of Ming & Qing dynasties with some concrete objects and give a further discussion on its impact on western and modern Chinese furnishings.
