Abstract :
The paper addresses the issue of ambient noise level reductions in cellular band to PCS band and its impact on CDMA system capacity and coverage. The measurement results have shown that the ambient noise level at the PCS band is 2-7 dB lower than that of the cellular band. This factor is advantageous to the PCS system. It has been found that CDMA system capacity of PCS is 20-35% higher than that of cellular. The PCS system coverage also improves due to a lower ambient noise level at PCS bands
