Abstract
A closed-loop adaptive optical system based on a genetic algorithm is developed. This system consists of a deformable mirror, a computer, beam splitter, wavefront sensor, and high voltage driver. The genetic algorithm adjusts the control voltages of 37 independent electrodes to vary the shape of the deformable mirror surface such that the aberration of laser beam can be compensated by deformable mirror. By utilizing this adaptive optics method, an average Strehl ratio of about 80% improvement of laser quality have been measured.
