  • Abstract
In view of changing the type of energy conversion in CMOS circuits, this paper investigates low-power characteristics of complementary pass-transistor logic (CPL) circuits using AC power supply. On this basis, adiabatic CPL circuits using two-phase power-clocks are described, which consist of pure NMOS transistors. Adiabatic CPL flip-flops with reset terminals are also introduced. A practical sequential system is demonstrated. The adiabatic CPL is suitable for the design of flip-flops and sequential circuits, as it uses fewer transistors than other similar implementations.
