Abstract
Crossover product accumulate (CPA) codes, proposed recently, are a novel class of provably good error-correcting codes with low encoding and decoding complexity. In this paper, EXIT chart is used to predict the SNR convergence threshold of CPA codes. Iterative decoding stop criteria are proposed for CPA codes, and are used to simulate the performance of CPA codes. Analysis and simulations show that CPA codes provide a lower error floor than product accumulate (PA) codes, while CPA codes possess the same convergence threshold as PA codes, and the iterative decoding stop criteria proposed can reduce the decoding complexity and achieve excellent bit-error-rate (BER) performance.
