Industrial design students oriented teaching and practice on form style cognition

Abstract :
During the teaching process, the author guided the students collecting sample images of products of various types, and conducting cognitive experiments to get 10 groups of images with high identification levels. Then author organized the students to employ focus group method to conclude the different styles´ forming rules and analyze the details design of different styles, such as holes, slots, keys, printed texts and patterns, bevels, transition surface, colors, textures and so on. Therefore the students can understand the relationships between the form details and the product styles, which contributes to students´ future study and practice in product design.
