Abstract
The paper describes important design requirements for dc-dc converter design and, particularly, it shows these constraints in a boost converter and in a cascade-boost converter. There exist several approaches to find the optimal design. Nevertheless, these methods do not provide a sensitivity analysis to carry out the usual post-processing task in an optimization process. The paper analyses in a graphical way the influence of small perturbations, in the design constraints, that affect the optimal performances. In addition, the proposed analysis verifies that the design is optimal. The results are expected to enable the engineer to gain useful insights into the design process and guide him/her in implementing more efficient dc-dc converters.
