Abstract
Oceanographic field data collected with the APV is discussed. The APV is an autonomous multi-profile instrument. Stored data is retrieved via a data transmission system (radio frequency). GPS provides a location system. Conductivity and temperature versus depth (CTD) data has been collected from the surface to over 1000 meters. Calculations are made from midwater data of vertical fluid velocities based on the differences in the instrument´s absolute terminal velocity, and the measured absolute fall rate dp/dt. In a shallow water (<100 m) moored configurations, multiple profiles of water column and bottom boundary layer data have been collected
