Abstract :
Front cover: NASA\´s Space Communications and Navigation Test Bed shown against the solar arrays of the enormous International Space Station (ISS). The flight system has several RF and antenna subsystems to support the Software Defined Radios (SDRs) by providing the interfaces to the ground system communication links. Back Cover: Location of NASA\´s Space Communications and Navigation Test Bed on the ISS. The astronaut conducting a spacewalk on the outside of the ISS, Akihiko Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), provides a reminder that there is a crew present aboard the ISS. The images on the front and back covers of this issue of SYSTEMS were provided by the authors of the article titled "NASA\´s Space Communications and Navigation Test Bed aboard the International Space Station," by Richard C. Reinhart, Thomas J. Kacpura, and Sandra K. Johnson from the NASA John H. Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio USA, along with James P. Lux from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California USA. To read the article, see pages 4-15.
