Abstract
A three-element LCL resonant power converter capable of delivering pulsed power and operating above resonant frequency suitable for compact high voltage power supplies used in airborne radars is analysed. Fixed frequency is employed to obtain better performance and pulse width modulation is employed to control/regulate the output voltage. The inherent advantage of having low losses due to above-resonance operation are well utilised for reducing the size and weight. Closed form solutions are evaluated under steady state conditions. A 200 W, prototype power converter operating at 50 kHz was tried out and experimental results are in full agreement with theoretical/simulated waveforms. The performance of the power converter is also verified with pulsed loads
