Abstract :
Under foggy weather conditions, the contrast of outdoor scene images is often drastically degraded. In this paper, we address the question of restoring the contrast of outdoor scene images from just one degraded image. A simple modified model was derived firstly based on atmospheric scattering models, which describes the mechanism that the apparent contrast of scenes degrades under foggy conditions, and then we estimated the optimal weight parameter vector in modified model by using genetic algorithm. Finally, we described the contrast restoration method for fog-degraded image without using any weather or exact depth information, and the experiment results illustrate its effectiveness.
