Abstract
In this paper the globally optimal design problem of one and multidimensional digital filters is examined. It is found that only one globally optimal solution exists that satisfies predetermined magnitude and phase specifications. Theory related to globally optimal designs is developed. A new stabilization technique for unstable multidimensional digital filters is proposed.
