Abstract
This paper deals with the representation of images by polynomials and warped polynomials. It summarises the author´s work in that field. The paper first addresses fast algorithms for texture approximation on an arbitrary region by bi-variate polynomials. Next, it briefly considers the description of the boundary of an object by complex-valued warped polynomials. Finally, it discusses image representation in terms of image-dependent base functions (warped polynomials). The (warped) polynomial image and object representations can be used for coding purposes and in pattern recognition
